On a Personal Note:

Sole Mission has lost three incredible Sole Mates this year. In February, Arnold “Sonny” Patterson passed away. Sonny and his wife Paige have supported Kelly and Alisa in ministry for 27 years. They often say, “It’s the Patterson’s fault!” when referring to all they have done in providing for those in need across the U.S. over that time. Sonny and Paige took the Wards to their first compassionate outreach training in Florida in 1998 and believed in them and supported them ever since. Sonny is deeply missed. Easter Sunday morning Alisa’s “bonus mom” Becky Alford passed away. Becky has been a fan of Sole Mission for 15 years. She was responsible for getting Mike Rowe and the team from “Returning the Favor” to feature Kelly and Alisa and Sole Mission in 2019. She supported financially, knitted hats for kids in cold climates, and volunteered. Becky leaves a big hole in the Sole Mission Universe.

Lastly in August Karen Poling another long time Sole Mate lost her battle with cancer. When Sole Mission moved home to Texas. She was part of the crew who came to Missouri loaded the trucks and moved us back home. When Alisa had surgery last year, she came and helped weekly. She asked for shoes instead of flowers at her funeral. Almost 500 pairs were donated in her memory. What a legacy!

Shoe Giving 2025

We are wrapping up the Summer Season of Shoe Giving! 38 shoe distributions across the country this year so far. Thousands of children received new shoes and big smiles. We started the year on the US Island of Puerto Rico the third week of January. It was an amazing time providing hundreds of kids with new shoes. This summer has been nonstop with multiple shoe distributions every week across the U.S. We are grateful for our Sole Mates! Whether you have volunteered in in the Resource Center, given funds, shoes, or been fortunate enough to put shoes on kids and volunteer at one of our events, YOU are the ones who make the difference. Thank you for helping us put new shoes and big smiles on kids!

Want To Help Put Big Smiles on Kids??

We still need several sizes for boy’s & girl’s shoes for our distributions this year. You can buy and ship to us or use the QR code to Visit our Amazon Wish List. Purchase a pair or two or ten and have them shipped directly to us!

You can’t imagine the HUGE SMILE you will put on the face of the child who will receive those shoes.

Texas Hill Country Response

July 4th the Texas Hill Country was devastated by one of the deadliest inland flooding events in history. At least 135 people died. Latest numbers include 71 adults and 37 children. Multiple communities were affected along the Guadalupe River. Sole Mission responded in several ways. We took in supplies to several of the distribution centers located in the area: work boots, muck boots, socks, underwear, diapers and wet wipes, personal hygiene items, bug spray, sunscreen, etc. Alisa was on the phone with one of the directors of a distribution center asking about needs and the director said, “I have a Deputy Sheriff standing in front of me and her boots are coming apart from trudging through the mud and debris. We need boots!” Our partners from Village Heights Church among others, helped us meet those needs. Kelly gathered colleagues from the counseling field to provide a listening ear and strong shoulders to the first responders. Two of the counselor’s husbands were in law enforcement and were part of the response.

We are grateful for our partners who help us respond quickly!!
